Industrial Sewing (Starting May 31st)

Service Description
This 6-week course will introduce students to industrial sewing machines, serger machines, new sewing tools, basic pattern drafting and proper dress form applications. Students will learn about fabrics and some fabric dying, using a lesson out of The Science Fabric Swatch kit book. Students will also work on creating a professional portfolio and complete a dress for the final project. Dresses created for the final will be presented in a fashion show upon graduating where you will receive your certificate and move forward on your fashion journey. Materials needed: One 3-ring binder, Plastic sleeves for the binder Basic sewing kit- Hand needles, dressmaker or silk pins, thread, pin cushion, marking tape, fabric pen, fabric chalk, fabric scissors. Kits can be purchased at Joann’s, Walmart, or any fabric store. If you buy a kit, it will have all these items included) 4 yards of Muslin fabric. (Fabric can be purchased at Joann’s, or any fabric store). 3 yards of final fabric (please purchase a fabric with stretch like polyester...ect) 2 Large spools of thread are your color choice for fabric used for the final dress. 9 fabric swatches for swatch kit project Pen and note paper or notebook for notes
